Its good to be back!

A few years ago, when i stopped blogging, it was for 2 reasons:- 1.) I was Lazy! 2.) I thought the food scene in Jeddah was not happening and it felt kind of saturated to post anything new. All that has changed now. Of course I am still lazy, but the food scene in Jeddah is literally exploding with new places. So where do I begin from? Of all the places i have been to recently, one place stands out amongst the rest. We used to always lament the fact that we miss authentic Gourmet Indian food. Of course, both Zaika and Bharat are up there on the list, but we felt this was not enough. This is no longer a problem! Punjab grill opened doors sometime last month, and boy, was it worth the wait! This restaurant is located in the Ascott hotel at the end of Sari street. We obviously had great expectations from this place, having always loved their innovation, their playfullness, their unique twist combining authentic Indian cuisine with the contemporary. What happens when Indians want to eat good Indian food away from India? Well, the answer is rarely exciting. More so in Jeddah, where restaurants claiming ‘authentic Indian food’ are experts in doling dishes that are as close to Indian food as pizzas are to the Chinese. But when a friend served us some malai kofta (bought from Shezan restaurant) for dinner at his place this weekend, we were left wanting for more. So plans were made to hit Shezan as soon as it opened the next day:-) Well, the lazy weekend morning forced us to postpone the lunch plan to dinner, but we were there nevertheless. Shezan restaurant, located in Faisaliyah district in Jeddah, looked gorgeously traditional with its beautiful green-minarets. Despite the old exteriors, this stand-alone restaurant appealed to us.
