The Fishy tale
What better way to start the blog than to share some experience with friends at a great place, good company, good food and some great shisha.
What started off as an planned event for almost 15 of us, turned out to be a private party of the four who managed to get out of the weekend slumber and have the courage to drive in the heat. But the spirit of finding the place combined with the determination that this trip had to be a success overpowered the lack in numbers.
A great deal was spoken about this place, and after a drive of about an hour to the outskirts of the city, we reached Dhahban. Right off the flyover waited the most serene and beautiful sight I have seen in quite some time.
There are 3-4 places here, but we went to one that was recommended by our local colleague. ( i dont know the name of the place as all the signanges were in arabic, but once you get to Dhahban these places are hard to miss)
Once inside, we were welcomed into one of the many shacks that are neatly arranged next to each other.
Once inside, we were pleasantly surprised to see a Tv that was tuned into MBC Action, oh boy, what else would some boys out for the day need:-) We asked for some water and settled into the comfortable majlis that outlined the shack space. We were served some water and tea and asked to visit the fish kitchen to select amongst the catch of the day. Let me warn you hear, if you are a vegetarian who detests the sight of non-veg food, this place is definitely not for you. Fortunately, yours truly, although being a vegetarian, loves the sight of well presented food was more than happy to see how clean this place actually was.
The experts in the group decided on a couple of super cool looking fishes, some prawns and ordered some rice to go with this. After this we were asked ot retire back to our room and chill out with some shisha. In approximately 15 mins, the catch that we selected was magically transformed into some awesome looking food made an appearance in the shack. What followed for the next 30 mins was absoulete silence while 3 men happily gorged on the food while yours truly was transfixed at this magical transformation that lay in front of us.
After finsihing the meal and relaxing for more than an hour with some tea and shisha again, it was time to bid farewell to this place. But plans were made to return back to this place with friends to simply share the beauty and rare experience that this place had to offer. This place seemed to be kids friendly as well with lots of rides and play area dedicated specifically for them. So this place is definitely recommended for those families who are looking for the perfect eating out place with a twist over the weekend.
