Cottage cheese marinated in home ground spices on skewers and grilled in the oven. Accompanied by cottage cheese salad and sliced pears.

Its good to be back!

A few years ago, when i stopped blogging, it was for 2 reasons:- 1.) I was Lazy! 2.) I thought the food scene in Jeddah was not happening and it felt kind of saturated to post anything new. All that has changed now. Of course I am still lazy, but the food scene in Jeddah is literally exploding with new places. So where do I begin from? Of all the places i have been to recently, one place stands out amongst the rest. We used to always lament the fact that we miss authentic Gourmet Indian food. Of course, both Zaika and Bharat are up there on the list, but we felt this was not enough. This is no longer a problem! Punjab grill opened doors sometime last month, and boy, was it worth the wait! Hos geldiniz in turkish literally translated means " Your arrival is lovely". And this is so true for the arrival of this wonderful Turkish bakery and cafe GULNAR. Tucked away in a small corner off Prince Sultan street after Heraa street, this place is a wonderful small world in itself. Right from the beautiful signboard to the beautiful wooden doors, the place screams out Turkish in all ways possible. I have been to this cafe around 4 times in the past 6 months or so. And every time I come out smiling. The place is cozy, the service friendly and the food fresh and delicious. I have a thing for freshly baked goods. Before you slap the not so healthy literature about bread, let me warn you, I wont listen. Even if i do, the next time i pass by Gulnar and the smell of freshly baked simit hits my nostrils, all your efforts would have been wasted. The long absence from my last post is attributed to the summer here in Jeddah. It has started. It is getting really hot here, so much so that we have been avoiding stepping out most of the week. But finally we decided to venture out as I felt a part of my life missing without being able to taste some of the wonders that Jeddah restaurants have to offer and to be able to post it on the blog. So 4 of us decided that we needed some local flavor to soothe our systems and the unanimous choice was Montazah Al Nakheel (Palm gardens) located along the Jeddah cornice. We were introduced to this place by our Saudi friends in Jeddah, a wonderful couple who appreciate the finer things in life. From the first time we were there, we have been going there at least once every fortnight. Nakheel is basically an outdoor restaurant and a huge one at that.
