Vitamins are essential
A favorite with a few of us at work has been Vitamin located in Rawdah whenever we feel like a quick light lunch. I have been going to this place for more than a year now and although not exceptional, the place is just right for that quick working lunch.
The place advertises itself as a Lebanese joint and the menu consists of the same usual suspects. The various simple but deletctable pastes like Hummus, Mutabbal, Baba Ganouj, Mahmara and the likes.
There is a small grill counter with the various skewers with different kinds of meat layered on it.
There is another small counter where you can order your own sandwich with the various stuffings displayed. Then there is the juice counter with a multicoloured fruits hogging the available space.
There is one counter with the meal of the day. This is like your combo and changes everyday. There are usually 1 or 2 kinds of rice, a couple of curry dishes and some meat or fish grilled or fried. You notice that everyone walking in usually first takes a glance at this counter first before settling down and deciding on their food. The service here is exceptional. There are usually only 1 or 2 guys manning the whole singles section, but they are so warm, friendly and efficient, that you would love them and get friendly with them within a couple of visits.
Yesterday it was just 2 of us. So we did not go overboard in ordering and stuck to the basics. The must have here is the lentil soup. If i describe it, I dont think i will be able to do sufficient justice to it, so let the picture do the talking instead. But mark my words, if you come to Vitamin, this is a must have.
We also ordered a fattoush salad, which was fresh and crunchy as always when it arrived.
My friend decided to order the Meat fatayer, which is minced meat cooked on a flat bread in the traditional lebanese oven. He says this is a must have for him as it is simple but divine in taste.
We ordered a portion of the Sayadiya rice which looked tempting, and on our request they served it without the grilled fish on top which was the combo of the day and made an appearance on almost all the tables we could see.
The food was basic, tasty and did not overload our tummies. We could get back to office and carry on with our work comfortably. So if you are around this area and are looking for a quick refreshing and fresh bite, just step into Vitamin and enjoy the flow.
